PROSE IN VIEWS
Technically the second in the series, this poem was sort of the offspring of the first poem I wrote with my typewriter on sketchbook paper alongside drawings etc.(titled “denied trouble” keep checking out the next pages to read that).
Essentially I was playing around with prompts and stuff and wrote a piece about mental health, me being the tyrant. I kinda wanted to make the point that madness is everywhere, ya know? The ending was meant to sort of confuse the reader and make them think about who might be doomed to prescriptions and who does the writing. I do a lot of my writing for the betterment of my mental health and, I hope anyone blessed to be literate tries to do the same; point being, the doctor could do the writing and be doomed to the prescription just as easily as we could if that makes sense. Another line I particularly enjoyed throwing in there is the “wheat from tares” one. I liked thinking about that old religious idiom a bit differently, I mean, who in their right mind would ever think the wheat comes from the tares? Its a reasoning that is steeped in madness, however easy to fall into. One can easily explain away notions like that by simply telling the misguided about how the tare feeds off the wheat to exist–the tare is in some sense insane itself. OH THE RIGHTOUS INDIGNATION! ARENT WE ALL INSANE? DID I MISS A MEMO?
Big ups to ty cookie for the candle skull idea. I ripped off one of his epic tats where he had one with roses in its mouth. That dude is my favorite person right now, seriously; if you know who I’m talking about say hi to him for ol’ peanut butter over here PLZ(if you’re reading this I love you buddy!!!). The background image was care of OWEN! One of my favorite counter parts, I turn to this dapper gentleman from time to time to help me complete artistics and stuff(MUCHO LOVE HOMIE). The coloring was an after effect, I insisted that the status quOWEN in all his greatness do a bunch of sheets with different styles of “madness” written all over them and then figured a sort of crimson red might give it some bite, KTHX.
