VOLUME #2
Ya boy went out on a limb for this one to check out some house music. What a fucking off the chain jam at CODA nightclub, I got an invite from my good bud melted mike and figured why not. The whole night literally felt like I was in some sort of haze of mad bumpin’ electronic music and super friendly people. This was my first time in a nightclub outside of Morocco and I swear it was the greatest. No drama or bad vibes to be had at all, just a bunch of house music heads celebrating all those September babies birthdays’.
Mikey Palermo was hella fun spinning some real danceable beats. Midway through his set every body on the floor really stared grooving, and there was enough room around that people were busting some pretty cool moves; even ol’ peanut butter over here caught some looks from some honeys for doing a squeaky shuffle. Mikey has been a producer for some time apparently, I think he does good as a house DJ for sure.
Miz Megs was pretty decent too. The floor was rammed by that point, it was rad AF, her set really carried the night through to the heavy hitters. I am starting to realize there are a lot of talented DJ’s in Toronto, Miz Megs is definitely one of them. Megs spins that tech house and has been in the scene as a DJ since 2003.
Ticky Ty, wow. This girl is gnarly on the turn tables. Everyone was going off about how great she is, for good reason. All I can say about her set was that the sounds and energy really put everything in the right place, I started to notice all these freaks in sexy outfits had appeared and Ticky was just killing it. Ticky, if you’re reading this: you spin me right round. I mean she journeyed to the underground house scene in Japan and perfected her skills, who wouldn’t love this DJ?
Deko-Ze shut this one down like the Toronto legend he is, I mean the guy co-owns a record label for crying out loud. Running the Scene for 20 years now, I am so stoked I got to enjoy one of his sets, the guy absolutely slays. Deko-ze gets really heavy, verging into deep house at times. He’s a real chill dude too, let me catch a picture of mike in the DJ booth and everything. International and crazy on the turntables, I would definitely go to another Deko-ze jam.
