VOLUME #2
Ya boy peanut butter over here had to put on the ol’ lipstick and fishnets for this one. Kriegshog and Skizophrenia took off all the way to the great white north from the island of Japan, home of sushi and sumo wrestling. First night checking out the Velvet Underground and I had a killer time; this was by far one of my favorite shows featured in 20scene. There was a shit ton of bands playing this show, I am going to link to all of their pages at the bottom however only a few really stick out as far as my shitty memory goes.
Cell was sick, by that point people were getting angsty in the pit and the lights were all dark with no spotlight, it sorta matched how heavy Cell is. All the way from Montreal this band tears shit up, real consistent sound over the 3 odd years they’ve been playing. I rate this band; real decent hardcore, hopefully they play Toronto again.
It was great to see Absolut again, of course they wouldn’t miss this show. The killer four piece that is Absolut has released sick as fuck albums and eps as far as at least 7 years ago; to be around that long and still be as fucking live as they are is an achievement. Toronto loves Absolut, you can tell when you’re in one of their pits and see all the wiling out people with smiling faces on. This band rips.
Muro was a secret surprise guest for this show. These Colombians roll hard, holy shit. The vocalist was just grilling the crowd so intensely and building all this suspense for their first song it was gnarly. There is so much energy going on with Muro, definitely give this band a listen.
Skizophrenia are fucking crazy, I’m not just saying that. Their lead guitarist is on some fucking shit, so fast and tech at the same time holy fuck. Of the two Japanese bands this one is my favorite for sure, they’re on point. Those punks out in Japan must go wild for this band back home, everyone was loving it over here, the pit was a sea of people.
Kriegshog were dark for this one, their lead singer had this Mussolini black shirts look all tucked in. They were a sight to be seen for sure. These Tokyo shredders are fucking awesome, I’m so stoked I got to see ’em. People were stage diving left and right by this point, it was nuts.
I wish I could say more but that’s it for the bands that really struck a chord with me. There’s four other bands I didn’t mention, give them a listen too if you like; the show as a whole was great. Here’s some links:
