VOLUME #3
Power to the ska with this upload, one of my favorites here. Showed up after a long day knowing only that Armed & Hammered was playing and had the most real moment where the roots sound took over and everything was where it should be. I love Toronto–seriously–my favorite part about this show was by the last set more than a few of my favorite punkers and scene kids from around the way had all converged to skank and enjoy some drinks or whatever. I will say this: music often is a comfort worth every second.
The Baudelaires are so cool. They started thier set as a two piece and song after song members of the band showed up, fashionably late, until they were a four piece. They sounded great the whole time, like they’re straight from Kingston or something but apparently they’re from Kitchener. The greatest part was that they said it was their last show(I seriously doubt it). Such a sick band.
The Classy Wrecks came in strong with their two piece brass section. I enjoyed their set, decent tunes to get loose and groove to. Pretty good set for a band that got it’s start here in TO sometime 2016. The mix of sexy ska saxamaphone and tromboner is fun, I digs it. Sonically these guys do the trick.
Armed & Hammered destroy every set they play, no question. Second time seeing them play and this one was dope, so much energy dudes started tussling in the pit. I’m all for how tight this band is, and they made it into NOW Magazine. Big ups. Armed & Hammered are fuckin’ decent street punk and they’re on some equality shit too; Mopa had a pride shirt on the whole set like a boss. Killer set.
Skaface live and direct since 1989. So classic and original; not a single person was sitting still while they played, I swear. Chilled out vibes the whole time, packed dance floor, and the guitarist climbed on to a railing jutting out from the side of the stage mid song. Definitely worth seeing this band play, guaranteed to have a blast. Can’t wait to see them again.
And that’s it, here’s some links:
