VOLUME #3

Volume 3 in the house! There will be a newly added short story and sports column posted later on in the Uploads section. I’ll make sure to remind you all when that is up.

Fuckin’ right! Another Cold Shoulder show!!! Pot of Greed, Reliever and Mayfield slid through from out of town. This show was worth checking out for sure; some departures from typical tuff guy hardcore with mostly tried and true heavy bands throughout the lineup. Another night grindin’ it out Duffy’s!

Pot Of Greed is dope as hell, some hardcore that changes it up a bit with pop-punkish tracksmelodic vocals here and there. I got love for this band right here, I’m yet to hear a track by POG that isn’t mad digable. Would definitely check this band again, hopefully they swing by TO again, I think they’re out in Hamilton or something.

Reliever out of Windsor finally make an appearance in 20scene for volume 3, I love this band. Not only do they throw around some crunchy, sludgy, hardcore; but they have this killer vibe where the lead gutiarist just screams in the mic and plays his axe like a fucking rock while their bassist wiles the fuck out, jumps around, and does backup vocals. This band is super impressive, so much talent from the drum section and thought provoking samples on their recordings. Big ups to Windsor for sending out these hardcore warriors.

Taker rule. They’re a newer hardcore band started by the bassist from Cold Shoulder, same lane with some minor differences. Fucking ill iconography on their merch too, I’m mad stoked to see where this band goes. Underground as fuck, heavy as shit, just pushing that street level hardcore culture; I love it. Thanks to bands like this Toronto feels like a HC mecca. Couldn’t find any of their content online, go see them live I guess!?

Mayfield, holy moly. They’re like A Story So Far mixed with Between The Buried And Me mixed with From Autumn To Ashes, I could listen to this band all day. Their guitarist looks exactly like Mack from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and the guy shreds like crazy; I was so entertained! In all seriousness though, this band does not miss a beat live with some tech instrumentation and vocal collabs. So stoked I saw this band rip a set.

Cold Shoulder. Thats all I should have to say. Years in the scene with some real emotional and genuine content, this band is the OG kush of Toronto hardcore right now. Their themes are all about empowerment and consciousness and they hate the police, whats not to love? Every time I see this band live the vocalist shows up late and pissed off; the guy marches in like some sort of WWE champ minus the belt, I swear. Mad vibes from these TOHC vets.
