VOLUME #4
Live from the Monarch Tavern, this show was killer. Made a big oopsie and got the date wrong on this one–it was actually the 15th of February. I Was super stoked to check out Prettyboy and Blue for the first time but I never heard of Dboy before this show. Turns out The Order Of The Dboy Scouts are mad sick. It was great getting to watch three sick bands fucking slay. You knows ya’ boy peanut butter over here loves short and sweet!
Prettyboy is a dope as fuck, all girl, grunge-punk band. I love how hardcore and heavy they are and still somehow pull off the off bratty and ironic punx vibe. Non-stop fun and energy from beginning to the end of their set, definitely a thumbs up from me. I wish they had more tracks because I could listen to this shit all day; seriously glad I got to at least peep a live set.
Blue was about as awesome as I expected. Do yous all remember the two front man rap-rock band Sideman featured in volume 1 of 20scene? Ross Miller, AKA Big Mil started Blue and does most if not all the writing. As if being one of the vocalists in Sideman wasn’t sick enough he also plays bass in The Dirty Nil. Blue is some fucking rad hardcore with decent vocal melodies. I’m a bit let down that the bandcamp page is down, Blue has some sick tunes I wish I could link to.
Order Of The Dboy Scouts. Rose city represent to the fullest with this band, Dboy rule. They started the set off running out in front of a big banner in that said “LUV WILL ALWAYS FIND YOU”. A smoke machine was going and the sound of wailing air raid sirens set the mood. Then they just ripped some of the fucking gnarlyest, attitude laced, garage punk tracks I’ve heard from a local band. I got a chance to ask the front man what Dboy meant, he said “Destroy Boy” originally. I love this band.
And that’s the way, here’s some links:
