What a genius idea, take a studio the size of a large bedroom and turn it into a live streaming room for Toronto DJs. Couldn’t have asked for a greater dude to run the place too(!!shout outs to Hubert!!), real great guy keeping everything alive and live like he do. I dropped by a couple of times to document some of the DJs, everyone there is pretty chills by and large. Sort of a, relaxed, mature vibe going on; got some art, not pictured, by local TO painter Kizmet. At any given time ol’ peanut butter over here happily swings by the site to check the haps on some local DJ vibes, the site is gold. The live streams are nice and long and decently professional, I rate the CTRL ROOM…
DJ DEAN NIXON the international man of mystery, it seems the turn tables attract some interesting folks. Nixon spins some classy tech house, he seems to like those dreamy 80’s vibes. If I remember correctly he has spun in Europe, North America, and Asia. Totally chill dude, real approachable, I really dig the tunes he spun too. Good times with a few people hanging out and ya boy over here handing out 20scene VOL 3 zines which had just hit the press, definitely one of my favorite memories is casually swinging by and meeting Dean for a minute on my way back to the lab.
2SMOOTH & CHICO U are mad cool. This is Chico-U’s second time on the 20scene, he’s always collaborating with other DJs which is cool. Chico has been around for a decade and a half and he spins some proper mixes, this time him and DJ 2smooth were repping “Soul in the 6ix”, with some proper–true to form–house music. No pretenders here, real dope vibes from this outfit.
